Cable under external insulation

Thinking of getting the house externally insulated.

Is there any reason why I couldn't run a Ethernet cable around to the back of the house before doing this & then hiding it under the new insulation?

    Thanks.

just make sure they don't damage it

Id be inclined to wrap it in some protective tube just incase.
Maybe run a tied rope though it also so you can fish extra cable in the future if required.

    Good idea on the conduit.
You can get external Ethernet cable so it would be a bit tougher than the internal stuff.

make sure the adhesive from the EWI doesnt burn through it

no hard do a tester to see what happens

I'd put it in a conduit along with a pull chord.

I've no idea if it would be fine on its own but may swell give yourself a bit of space and future proofing while you are at it!

The real risk here that one of the mushroom fixings will go through it

Take another look inside your house, maybe with a bit of thought you would be able to hide it, run it behind units etc. Hiding it under the external insulation is not great IMO. If you do go for the outside better to put it in trunking outside the render. Keep it tight to the soffit & you can blend it in where you need it.

or just put it in the ground. in a flexible plastic pipe. run it along the house perimeter underground outside the insulation.

of course footpaths might be an issue but if doing external insulation then these might be going anyway

The Coax TV cable for UPC is under my EWI. Works grand a few years in.
