Hi, brakes going fine, but noticed the rear discs on the inside theres a thin piece of metal on the outside of disc(looks like a cover) thats badly rusted away...will nct fail it on this?? Or is it just a disc protector ?? Thanks

As far as I know its a fail, have definitely heard of people failing for it before

Sounds like stone guard can you post pic of it, if it is that I don't think nct would fail it for a rusted one.

I call them brake backing plates. You can replace or remove it (although they do fill a function).

They are a fail item, have had a recent fail on corroded dust shields. Pain in the hole.

    What car is it?

    It's a fail anymore if they're missing.

It is a fail and these can be very expensive to replace on some cars, others its a quick bolt on job :) Yours unfortunately is not one of the easier ones
