It's cheaper to do it online, even on the day of the trip. I think it was at least €10 more expensive to buy a ticket in the station than book online for me recently.

If booking online it's cheaper to book the return leg via Translink if you do it 3+ days in advance. £8.99, which is about €10.80

That new Enterprise is sooo comfortable that the first time I was on it I fell asleep. Haven't fallen asleep on a train in 20 years.

Is that how much you save or is that the full price for the return trip if you book 3 or more days in advance?

That's the return leg (Belfast-Dublin) only. E.g the IE fare could be could be €19.99 or €23.49 each way, but just book the Dublin-Belfast bit on IE, and the return on Translink, and save yourself a tenner or more.

(You can't book both legs on Translink unless you are starting your journey from and returning to a station in NI)

The bus is cheaper buts it's pot luck if you get a nice comfy double decker Bus Eireann or one of the can't move your legsGoldline coaches

2.5 hours is a long time on a coach and the Belfast trip FEELS v v v long

Unless price is a major major issue and every penny counts get the Enterprise it's just been totally renovated and even standard class is more comfortable than any other train on the island plus there's bathrooms, a bar/restaurant with cushioned seating and a trolley service, window shades and great wifi

You get Aircoach instead and get the vehicle with the most leg-room on intercity services in Ireland and get there quicker too as it doesn't stop in the Towns :)
