familytreedna question

I have a question for anyone who has recently ordered DNA tests from familytreedna. In my case I took the Y-DNA (37 marker) and may opt to addon to ordering the family finder DNA.
However, I've a very specific question.
On your dashboard does your order history show dates that are consistent with your date of initially ordering a kit, etc ?

I took my test at the RDS back to our past exhibition so it wasn't a case of me ordering a kit. They provided the kit and samples taken at that location.
For that reason also I am interested to know if anyone has had results back after that event this year (or last year).
I will contact the company tomorrow to explain an anomaly as the kit ordered date is in 2015 and doesn't correspond to the date I took the test (Oct 2016).
On my dashboard there are 3 dates, ordered/sent (1 day apart in Aug 2015) and received by lab (Nov 2016). The first 2 dates don't make sense to me.
I am just interested to know what is the norm regarding the order history dates on your familytreedna as maybe I am fussing over nothing.

ps - I should also say that I actually got notified by FTDNA in November that there was an outstanding payment.
I had given my credit card number at the stand but somehow the payment had never been processed.
They gave me a link to pay and I paid online at that time. I guess - with these 2 anomalies I am just a bit uneasy with the traceability and transparency but I need to contact them for a right to reply as there may be very logical explanations, etc.

Their customer service isn't great, in my experience, but the dates on my records are not quite accurate either, particularly ones I bought at BTOP (albeit a few years ago). It just means that they "ordered" a batch of kits in advance of the show so they could give them out there and then.

I did the same test - also had a strange date, Aug 2015 which I took to be either an error or their system 'remembering' my IP number from a time I looked at ordering a kit. (Pinky's answer makes sense.) I had my results back by end November, no payment issues. It's very much 'you're on your own' after the test result is done, mine raised several new questions that I need to resolve before going further. I would have been lost but for the kind input from Dubhthach on th eDNA thread below !:)

    This is the answer.

Many thanks for the helpful replies.

It does tend to reassure to a fair extent.
One thing which was odd was that my order status said

    Ordered 17 Aug 2015
    Sent 18 Aug 2015
Received by lab 3 Nov 2016.

It is the middle date that certainly threw me.
The first date makes sense in terms of a pre-ordered kit that was part of roadshows, etc. Also, the dates are quite long dated into the past, excuse the pun.

I guess with the payment debacle and the discrepancy in the dates .. and particularly this "Sent date" it was quite disconcerting.
Is there anyone who took the test at one of the exhibitions who can check if the Order history "Sent" date is extremely close to the original kit order date and far before the exhibition ? Perhaps "Sent" here was when it was dispatched to the stockpile of pre-ordered kits used for roadshows/exhibitions. I'd just be happy if someone else who tested at an exhibition could confirm that this is the pattern of dates recorded within their order history.

I will take it up with the company and I would be hopeful that it is perfectly explained by pre-ordered kits used for exhibitions and shows as opposed to postally ordered/submitted kits. I wanted to just simply compare notes before making an unnecessary fuss about nothing, etc.

Sent is when it was posted out to the person who ordered it.

As been mentioned, because these kits were sold at an event, it's probable that the first two dates represent the ordering of "batch" of kits for use by their conference team.

Normally when you order they send you out a kit which would have a barcode/kit sequence ID which would reflect that you were kit number xyz12345

I imagine for their internal inventory that they "pre-order" the kits for their conference team and have a bunch of them in stock waiting to go.

The sent date is automatically generated when the order is made. I had someone order a kit yesterday and the sent date was set for the day after at the time of ordering.

Thank you all for the reassuring info.
I think I panicked a bit given the earlier administrative error regarding the payment on the DNA test at the exhibition.

The results themselves are interesting and I may return to them on this forum in due course.
