not wanting to offer any medical advice but I think you should start with a dentist who will then perhaps refer you to one who will accept medical card etc.

Your dentist would have a good idea if the teeth are bad enough to get treated by the HSE orthodontist.

My son went to Joe Alcock but it was private, we're delighted with the end result so I'd have no problem recommending him but I don't know about medical cards and orthodontics.

Its not for me but for someone that has scoliosis and wants to get a back tooth extracted as he grinds it at night and then has a lot of pain after that.

His dentist has ground it down as much as she can but she says she can extract it but offered no other option or suggestion.

He is worried if he has it out could part of his face fall in etc.

I am checking out orthodontist to see if they could advise him on what the
likely outcome would be. I presume an orthodontist would be next place to go.

otho ireland on their web chat said that all first consultations are free.

I see Derek Shiels is a member and is the nearest, must email em.

Anyone know what the waiting list would be for the hse, years I suppose.

If grinding his teeth at night is the problem has anyone suggested a mouthguard to wear at night to break the habit?

Sorry forgot to mention that the dentist did suggest a gum shield but later
when asked again was reluctant to suggest this because of the Scoliosis I guess, and this is why I was wondering if an Orthodontist could give more
    specialist advice.
