Seeing as 2016 is almost over in terms of major releases. This thread serves the same purpose as the 2016 releases thread.

    Take it away.

Rumours of new Behemoth and Carcass releases for 2017.

Both had absolute romper stompers as previous releases so hopefully we will see something and a tour too.

    Wishful thinking but ...Tool!?

    Steven Wilson.

Hrs even started recording, and only finished last touring cycle 2 weeks ago. Drummer has said it's quite heavy too!

    Does the man ever sleep?

    Not that I'm complaining.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Nope, the Delirium Years 9 vinyl boxset is up for pre-order now, all remastered works that he did. It's quite scary how much he works, and considering the quality it's just fantastic!

Blackfield's new album Blackfield V, where Steven Wilson has once again worked as an equal partner, is scheduled for release on Feb 10th.

Also still patiently waiting on Tool.

Nine inch nails have said they're releasing stuff.

I'm not so patiently waiting for the next QOTSA album

Saw Relapse post a picture of bands on their label that are releasing new albums this year, so I've got new Dying Fetus, Pig Destroyer, Obituary, and Toxic Holocaust at least. Cephalic Carnage also said on their Facebook page that they are going to start working on their next album, but I dunno if we'll get that in 2017.

Sepultura and Kreator have new albums out this month, so I'll be giving those a listen.

I wonder when we're likely see an album, I'd guess early 2018 maybe.

    He is bloody efficient though.

I think the new Overkill is going to be great. The last few have been disappointing, but this sounds like it has a bit of energy and venom, lyrics are still well.....overkill!

It sounds like they're on final stages of recording tbh. Craig was tracking before Christmas for 4 days, from sounds of clip I think the instruments are done.

I'd say September at latest, if not this side of summer. As you say, he's efficient! And I wasn't expecting anything this year.

Alestorm are back in studio again so hopefully the album will be out after summer.
Cruachan are due an album too I think

Just listened to the new Pain of Salvation album, In the Passing Light of Day.

They've gone back to a much heavier sound, which is great to hear. There's a lot to take in, but I really like the album on first listen.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Really enjoying Ayreon's new release, The Source. It's fantastic if you enjoy his particular brand of sci-fi themed rock opera. The cast of singers is as fantastic as always.
James LaBrie (Dream Theater) as The Historian
Tommy Karevik (Kamelot, Seventh Wonder) as The Opposition Leader
Tommy Rogers (Between the Buried and Me) as The Chemist
Simone Simons (Epica) as The Counselor
Nils K. Rue (Pagan's Mind) as The Prophet
Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia) as The Captain
Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian) as The Astronomer
    Mike Mills (Toehider) as TH-1
Russell Allen (Symphony X) as The President
Michael Eriksen (Circus Maximus) as The Diplomat
Floor Jansen (Nightwish, ex-After Forever, ex-ReVamp) as The Biologist
Will Shaw (Heir Apparent), Wilmer Waarbroek, Jan Willem Ketelaars, and Lisette van den Berg (Scarlet Stories) as The Ship's Crew
Zaher Zorgati (Myrath) as The Preacher1

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test
