Recent changes in Netflix content

Been with Netflix for a couple of years now. The kids metioned last week that there was a lot of new stuff available over the previous few days. I had a quick look & noticed that the TV series Revolution was there - it hadn't been there any time I looked in the past. I thought it made sense that Netflix were exapanding their offering since Amazon Prime is now available here.

Last night the kids told me a lot of the new stuff (e.g. animated movie Home) was gone. I checked for Revolution & sure enough, that was gone too.

Anybody know why this might be? I'm on the normal Ireland service, have never bothered with the IP changes etc.

Any takers... have Netflix dropped a lot of content recently?

The content changes all the time, there are shows coming and going. If it doesn't have Netflix Original on it you can't rely on it staying.

There's a couple of sites you can check out for this sort of thing - try vodzilla.co or uk.newonnetflix.info . others are available, Google is your friend. Irish Netflix is almost (but not 100%) the same as the UK one.

As per the above the content is constantly changing. Off the top of my head Father Ted, Inbetweeners, Wall-E, Heroes, 24..... just some of the programs that were there that are no longer available.

Thanks. I'm familiar with their business model. What seems different this time is that a lot of new stuff was added, then subsequently removed very quickly. The kids use it a fair bit & they all noticed the changes. They spotted it because some of the content included relatively new releases like The Jungle Book. Strange.

If you see content coming and going frequently, then it's likely down to Netflix losing the licensing rights to the content. That's what happened with the Office (US) - they lost the rights to showing it in the UK & Ireland market.

I know you said you haven't changed IP, but it really sounds like you accessed the US / Canadian content for a little bit - Home, Revolution and the Jungle Book are all on the US / Canadian site. Did anyone successfully play this content? It's possible to list them but get blocked when it comes to playing them.

That's interesting. At the time, the thought did cross my mind that it might be US content alright. I definatley havent used a US IP address (I'm not even sure how to do it). Maybe it was just a temporary Netflix glitch.

Fight Club gone up today. Love that.

Brooklyn Nine Nine series 3 went up yesterday. Not seen any of it, so that will come in handy over Christmas.
