I gave my laptop to a local it shop to fix a broken keyboard. He kept it for about 2 and a half months. All the while giving me bills hit about the supplier sending wrong keyboards. Yesterday he gave it back, saying he couldn't do it. Now it won't turn on. I know he had it to pieces at one point ( someone saw him working on it). What are my options?

    Small claims court maybe?

I would try and resolve this with the repair shop initially.

However, before dealing with them, I would want the opinion of a second repair shop first in case they were able to discover other damage of which you are currently unaware. As matters stand you cannot be fully aware of all potential damage done by the first repair shop.

If there is no satisfaction talk to the Small Claims Court. Link http://www.courts.ie/courts.ie/Library3.nsf/PageCurrentWebLookUpTopNav/Small%20Claims%20Procedure

Any repair shop worth their salt will be prepared for the possibility that they might make matters worse while working on your hardware (across the board, be that cars or computers)

They should be factoring this into their prices to prepare for the rare cases.

Approach them, let them know you're willing to take this further without being aggressive and once you've exhausted that avenue (or your patience), you should be able to use the small claims court.

Since this won't the first time this has happened i would be surprised if they don't either try to settle with your in person or repair the laptop back to the condition when they got it (assuming they don't somehow think it was dead when they got it)
