Just bought one of these, anybody know a good option for installing Bluetooth hands-free for calls + listening to music? swap-out the original stereo or go with something like a Parrot unit? I don't want an Aux-in or FM transmitter type set-up at all....any advice would be welcome???

    Thanks

Not that one specifically but similar on a golf.

I do think a boardsie got one for his an Avensis and had issues with it.

I would avoid the likes of a parrot mk Bluetooth kit that allows streaming as it has its own crappy amp and the sound is rotten. This one uses the cd changer port as far as I know.

it does use the cd changer port alright....I was looking at the Parrot Asteroid mini....but I suppose the all use they're own amp??

Yeah. They're fine as a phone kit but the sound isn't good enough for playing music IMO.

Just reading up on these units...they seem to be a bit hit-and-miss, I wonder would changing the head unit altogether be the better option?

I got a ycarlink. It's a great piece of kit and cost less than €50 delivered including the correct harness. I have Bluetooth streaming, charging and I opted for the extra module and microphone to make it a car kit. Sound quality on calls is not amazing but perfectly adequate and no complaints from people on the other side about not being able to hear me.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?k=yatour+renault

It seems to be different prices depending on what harness is needed as far as I can see.

still not quite sure how these work...can you take phone calls while listening tio the radio or does it need to be switched to CD Changer???

another question...there is one of the "Renault Audio Connection Box" gadgets installed in my glove-box, would it just be a matter of swapping this out with one of the above units? are they the same connection?

It has to be switched to cd changer but in my car that is a simple move of a dial to be fair. It's not perfect but I bought it primarily to stream music.

sorry i have the initiale and it has it build in. On your radio control (front plate instead of steering wheel knob), is there a button with the telephone icon?

Did you scan for BT on your phone? My MK3 Laguna had it. It didn't show up until I plugged in a bluetooth OBD scanner though. Just plugged it into the port and removed it. Did nothing else.

Crackin' car BTW, I had mine for nearly 3 years and it was faultless. Wear well. :)

no phone button, this is the stereo in it....I'm well pleased so far with it - a lot of car for the money!!! :)

If you have one of those you have a 3.5mm aux in port. You just need a Bluetooth to 3.5mm adaptor to have Bluetooth streaming. Saw one of these in the €2 shop today! Euro giant I think.
Won't do Bluetooth calls but will do your music cheaply.

That or you could just get a 3.5 to 3.5 lead and have a wired connection to your phone.

First things first. Scan for bluetooth devices when you're in the car with the unit powered up. I can't remember what my car came up as, but it wasn't as simple as 'Renault Laguna' or anything like that. I'd remember if I saw it again though. :o

That was me, absolute disaster and not usable in the Avensis built in unit, I ended up getting a Parrot unit that connected to the radio, great job, there was bluetooth streaming as well as connections to plug directly into it, I used to just put a USB stick in it and use that.

yeah... I think the likes of Parrot have come a long way, they are even doing head-units now.
