Did any of you apply or were any of you advised not to bother. I was in the Teagasc centre today and the guy who looked at my maps more or less felt I would be wasting my money applying . I would be classed as Tier 3 and even if I went for Bird Cover I would only make it to Tier 2 B and he feels that still would not get me in. What " of the record advice have you got from your Teagasc / FRS reps ? Thanks

That was the last tranche was it?

I know the first tranche was under subscribed. Not sure about the second, but the worry this time around is the scheme will be over subscribed...

The news i am hearing is tier 3 is very dubious as to qhether you get in.
    Tier 2 is a maybe...

I have applied, with a hectare of WBC to bring me into tier 2... we'll see what'll happen... we'll see...

If you don't apply, you don't get in.
    Sadly it's costly to apply

    http://www.independent.ie/business/farming/schemes/14000-farmers-submit-applications-for-glas-scheme-35305067.html

That article says starting from end Jan 2017

Also, looks like not everyone that applied will get in, unless they increase the allowed number...

Don't have access to read full article - but the headline suggests anyone who applied for GLAS will get in?

    Anyone read the full article?

    Article:
"GLAS numbers now likely to total 52,000, as all 14,000 GLAS III applicants are now poised for acceptance.
With applications for GLAS III now closed, it seems likely that all applicants who submitted a valid plan will be accepted into the scheme.
The Irish Farmers Journal understands that fewer than 1,000 applicants have Tier 3 status, and it is believed they will all be admitted into GLAS subject to meeting the normal requirements of the scheme.
In total, slightly under 14,000 farmers applied to join the third tranche of GLAS, which carries a maximum payment of €5,000, or €7,000 for the enhanced GLAS+ scheme. Of these, 7,000 were Tier 1, with about 6,000 achieving Tier 2 status.
This left about 850 Tier 3 applicants. These are the most vulnerable to any cut-off. Many GLAS II Tier 3 applicants were not admitted, with only 11,500 of the 14,000 applicants being accepted. Many of those are understood to have re-applied for GLAS III.
More than 38,000 farmers joined the scheme through GLAS 1 and GLAS II in 2015, so admitting all applicants would mean exceeding the 50,000 scheme participants committed to in the programme for Government.
That said, there are sufficient funds in the budget earmarked for GLAS in the Rural Development Programme to cope with a higher number of applicants"

That's good news. Between the Glas scheme and the new www scheme will be a bit extra to be made next year
