Triton T80z Electric Shower, low pressure, water won't heat.

    Hello,

I am banging my head off a wall here.

Have moved into a new rented house, it's all brand new.

The shower is a Trition T80z Electric Shower, running off the cold mains.

But the problem is "if" it works (warm water) it takes 5 minutes to heat up and some times during the day it will never warm up no matter what.

A plumber called and said it was a Trition problem, a Trition service man called since and said the problem is the low water pressure. Too low for the shower to run and only works at quiet, off peak times of the day if works at all.

He tested the pressure at kitchen sink also and said the pressure was way too low.

    Where does one go now?

The landlord is very helpful but we are running out of ideas.

    A pump needed?

Anyone else have a shower like the one above and have problems.

    Thanks.

Mains fed showers are not really suitable for most of Ireland as our pressure is so bad. The only time we fit mains fed shower is on a pressurized system. It's the only time you can be sure it will work.
First port of call should be Irish water. They'll come out and test the pressure at the meter. Quite often there is a leak on the street reducing the pressure.
If the pressure can't be improved it might be possible to change the shower to a pumped electric shower.
Not an ideal situation but at times we have connected bad mains pressure to a pumped electric shower using a pressure reduction valve. Homeowners would be told it might not work properly but sometimes it's worth the try if there's no way to get a feed from the tank. Sometimes there is no tank at all.
You do have options but get Irish water out first. Its free and they get to you within 24 hours or so.

Turn the dial to the single red stripe and heat to half way and see what happens

Turn the dial to the single red stripe and heat to half way and see what happens

Tried that and still no joy.

But for messing around in the bathroom for the past hour, and by accident turning on the tap in the sink. The pressure in the shower would go to a crawl. And instantly after the tap is turned off, the shower would heat up and like magic, warm water!

I'm now baffled. So I've been trying it for the past hour or so. Turn on shower, cold for a few minutes, flick on and off bathroom tap, shower gets warm.

Is turning on the tap drawing more pressure and then that runs into shower when tap is turned off.

At least I've a work around for a shower in the morning and not just dipping my head under a cold shower head.

Does the above make sense to anyone?

Play around with the settings bet there's a sweet spot somewhere.
Ours when fitted was doing the same thing plumber told me get a technician out who played with the dials and it's working since hence I suggested the way ours is set.
We had low pressure, recently pressurised the whole system with a pump, made no odds to the electric shower.
