Maximum Recommended Stock rate per acre

    anyone know what the reccommended stocking rate per acre is, i think i clalclated mine at 1.74 in mid summer, meaning the animals i have now minus what will be sold plus births. is this high, low or average? its dry ground western Meath

    stocking rate is worked out using the average of monthly figures over 12 mths,
    To pick a month means nothing, grass grows at different rates, In may you'd be expecting to graze over 2 - 2.5LU/acre, whereas in september you'd be lucky to feed one.
    If your stocking rate was really 1.74/ac, you'd probably be contravening nitrates regulations
