Claiming back for damage after work is done

If a tradesman is refusing to take your calls regarding repairing damage caused by them during a job what are the possible avenues you can go down?

The damage is approx €300-400 to repair, so not exceptionally high, but do you go to small claims court or is there a general ombudsman you can contact first?

I'm just planning ahead.. of course my first step is to try calling from other phones but if he just hangs up i'd like to know the backup options I have.

    SCC will work

Whether you will be able to collect any award from a sole trader/man of straw is debatable.

A key point is that the paper work has to be done through the court nearest to you, and you need his exact address.

I presume you can prove he did the damage

Thanks, yep can prove it all. It's a fairly established practice rather than just a single individual so it may well just be the time of year that's the issue.. I would have preferred to get it done before Xmas, but January might be ok.

Will try to get in touch with him then if not before.

FYI: The SCC fee is not recoverable.

€25? Not a problem really. I don't think it will come to the SCC, but just good to know that I can "insinuate going that direction" if required.
