I would like to see if anyone on the forum has any knowledge of tuning / scanning an Amiko HD 8260+ combo free sat decoder box.

I had the decoders fitted about a year ago, and the set top box is using a free sat satellite dish and an aerial combined, to pick up RTE channels. I am getting the RTE terrestrial channels OK, so RTE 1, RTE 2, TG4 etc. etc.

The problem is that after a year there have been a number of changes in the free sat world and new channels have come on line, such as the Horror channel. With the existing channel set up on my decoder boxes I have not been able to receive new channels such as Horror.

I rang the supplier and asked can I just do a rescan of channels, keep the existing channel order as it is and get any new channels that have come on line, and the answer was yes, just do a rescan.

Guess what, it didn't work, all the channels have gone to the order in which they are downloaded, so where I had RTE 1 as channel 1 I now have BBC 1 - and I can't change them to my own order of preference.

Not only have all the channels changed position, I no longer receive RTE 1. I have RTE 2, e3, UTV, but no RTE 1. There is a channel at about 800 and odd showing RTE but it ia a subscription channel, not free to air.

I have tried a cable scan as well as a satellite dish scan, but RTE 1 does not appear anywhere.

Can anyone tell me how to find RTE 1 on the Amiko HD 8260 combo box, or has RTE 1 gone off the free terrestrial aerial wavelength, to a subscription channel ?

I would be grateful if some-one could explain how to scan both the aerial and the dish channels, and also, if possible, how to sort the channels in a simple straightforward way.

When I asked the supplier if this was possible he said to put everything in order, in a favourites folder, and then do a scan. I spent two hours doing this, but then when I turned the set top box off and back on the channels were displayed in the same order as they were before moving them to a favourites folder, so that obviously didn't work.

The way I would like it to work is the way it worked before, so that when I turn on the TV and decoder box the TV shows the last viewed channel, and I can then just press a channel button on the remote, and get whatever channel I have set on the number.

I do not want to have to go hopping about with the remote looking for favourite folders and other nonsense. I want it quick and easy.

maybe some-one knows how to program the Amiko HD8260+ box and could let me know how to do it ?

Havent used that particular model but usually on most Amiko combos when you do a sat scan it moves the terrestrial RTE channels to the very end of the list. Ie. if you goto bbc1 and go backwards the rtes channels should be listed. If you go into the channel editiing options you should be able to move all the rtes back to the desired location

Heres the PC channel editor for the 8260.

Otherwise I suggest you setup a favourites list using the remote and add the channels that you want from your masterlist and then reorder within the favorites list.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.

Steveon - after a lot of trial and error I found out that I needed to do a full terrestrial scan to pick up RTE 1. What I eventually did was to do a full autoscan, followed by a terrestrial scan, followed by a cable scan.

This finally downloaded all the channels. Then I went to "menu" and "Service", then "Organising services" and I was able to move the channels into the order that I want when I turn on the TV and decoder. So, so far so good !!!

STB, I have downloaded the editor from the Amiko site, but what do I do with it now ? Do I need to copy it somehow into the decoder, and if so how do I do that ? I know that there is a usb connection on the front of the decoder but I have only ever used it to watch films off a usb drive.

Perhaps you could tell me if I need to upload to the unit and how I do this ?

    Thanks again for the help.
