How do you find a good dentist???

I am looking to get some small spaces filled, either with orthodontics or crowns/bonding, and also have a peg incisor that might need a crown. I am finding it very hard to figure out which dentists are good and which are not.
I live in Dublin 6 and there are so many options around me.

The place that is cheapest is in Dublin 4 and they do a lot of marketing with bloggers etc, however I saw the bloggers' veneers and thought they looked very fake. The prices being so cheap make me suspicious.

The most expensive places are usually specialists and I don't know if I need a specialist (or more than one, since I might need an orthodontist AND prosthodontist).

Ideally I'd like to go somewhere that offers everything - there's a few general dental clinics that have an orthodontist on-site - but then they don't have a prosthodontist. Many clinics only offer 6 month smiles/Invisalign but as far as I know, these only work on your front teeth and I'd rather see a proper orthodontist.

Where do you begin and does everyone have any tips on how to find a good dentist?
I know word of mouth is important but I don't know anyone who has got much dental work done. If anyone has recommendations via PM that'd be great.
Note: I am not interested in dental tourism so please don't try to shill me about Budapest clinics :)

This is really difficult for patients to navigate....!

Everyone's website will big themselves up.... and how do you truly know how good they are until you experience their treatment for yourself!!

Try not to be fooled by bloggers and celebrities... I have famous people in all the time and would be embarrassed to ask for a selfie for my website or a celeb endorsement... You know that most of those reviews and endorsement are in return for free/ discounted treatment??

    A few options;

If you have a good regular/ family dentist, ask for a referral to someone they would trust.

Ask a family or friend for a recommendation

Do your own research online. Look at qualifications and also look at website content, do they have good before and afters on their site (and is it their own work!!).

You may have to have a few consultations before you find the dentist that you trust and are comfortable with (this will cost you..)

If it were me, I would source a prosthodontist first and have them plan the treatment. They will then advise ortho if needed and get you to see a specific ortho that they would trust.....

    Good luck

    It's really hard @Oral Surgeon!
What makes it hard is also that so many dental practices advertise short term braces like Invisalign, but they're not actually orthodontists. Some have done "certs" in orthodontics alright, or specific 6 Month Smile short courses, but still aren't actually orthodontists.
I am afraid that a dentist will sell me 6 Month Smiles or similar, and hedge their bets that the results might look somewhat ok, rather than refer me to a proper orthodontist, and then it's me that suffers if the results are sub par.

Is it ok for me to post pictures of my teeth to give an idea of what I'm looking to get corrected?
