Toyota Corolla vvti 1.4 2003 squealing sound coming from the right side of engine

Hey guys, hope this hasn't been covered in another thread but I really have searched in every way I can think of, it certainly doesn't help that I don't know the name of the parts in question and can't identify them by searching online.
I have put a link to a Youtube video below (which I just uploaded) of the area the sound is coming from. it's a fairly high pitched sound so i don't think you can really hear it in the video, which does no justice to how annoying it actually is and obviously the potential problems it posses. Even if it poses no problems (which I highly doubt) I'm still keen to get it sorted.
Also I attached some pictures of the part I think the sound is coming from but it could be coming from below that, I tried to capture the area below in the video.

    PROBLEM
A squealing sound coming from the area to the right of the engine behind the air filter manifold. I can't hear it all the time when driving, it does seem to get worse when I've been driving for a while and even then its pretty faint but definitely noticeable. once its started making the sound it tends to continue until I stop and drive again.

If I start the car after its been parked I can only hear it if I open the hood and listen directly to that area, my ears have to be probably about 1 to 2 foot away. If I rev the engine it does become more noticeable.

If anyone could identify the parts in that area above and below, suggest some possible causes of the problem, ways to identify the cause of the problem and ways to fix the problem that would be great. I would be forever in your debt :)

Can't find the video - can you be a bit more specific about where it is. You should be able to put the URL in text so that others can paste it.

Usually squealing is the auxiliary belt, but I'm not sure which side it is on on your car and it's usually worst when starting and stops after the car is going for a while.

A vacuum leak is another possibility.

biko, ill try put the links in this comment if it doesn't work i'll post them to you. thanks

Spoke to the garage down the road and they said it can't be the part I specified because that's the Air Vacuum. They also pointed out that the gearbox is below that which would most likely be the cause of the problem, but when they took it for a spin they thought it all seemed fine. but it wasn't making the sound at the time. yeah maybe when I made the first video (2003 Toyota corolla vvti 1.4 squealing sound coming from the right hand side of the engine) I was hearing a small leak in the air vacuum, I think I was trying to listen for the sound when it wasn't actually there. it is fairly loud when its making the sound, you could almost definitely hear it if i drove past you in town.

I'm now thinking you're probably right blackbox, it probably is the belt, maybe one of the pulleys. i was thinking the water pump but a friend said that's usually more of a grinding sound and that it could be the power steering fluid, but we couldn't find the reservoir haha (it was dark tbf) but if anyone knows where to look? it certainly isn't obvious :) oh also I've checked the belt for wear and it seems to be in very good condition and the tension is good too

basically I've got this squealing sound coming from the engine area, the sound can come and go. it doesn't happen all the time but there are patches when its worse.
It tends to happen when I'm driving straight or holding the steering wheel in the same position like going around a long bend.
If I press the brakes or sharply turn the steering wheel it tends to stop the sound but once I release the brakes or straighten the steering wheel the sound will continue.

Managed to record the sound just before I was about to park, I think you can hear it best just before halfway in (26sconds). the sound then stops when i drive down the road a bit (E12 corolla vvt-i 1.4 03)

thanks for the replys too :)

EDIT: can't post the links I'll just put the name of the video in the brackets where the url was suppose to be and send on the links, cheers

when you say it goes away when you brake or turn the wheel... this points to something in the driveline. It might be a slightly sized brake caliper, or a worn/dry wheel bearing, or a bad cv (most likely not cv though if it goes away when turning)

I think you are barking up the wrong tree looking at pulleys and belts etc.

Check the front pads for a start.

I could hear it faintly in the videos when you were stationary. I would have a guess at the auxiliary belt(s). Especially if you can manage to change it yourself since the belts are cheap.

brembo26, yeah maybe it's worth changing the auxiliary belt (is that same thing as the serpentine belt). although it does seem to be in good condition but I suppose it would take it off the list of possibilities and I could keep the old one as a spare. I'm sure I could figure it out, doesn't look to hard to change. it isn't that loud in the video, but yeah it's certainly there. it can be louder sometimes, also the mic on my phone didn't pick it up very well.

Cheensbo, cool I will look into the drive line and see if the problem could be there. are any of those things (seized brake caliper, or a worn/dry wheel bearing, or a bad cv) affected by the weather because it does seem to be worse in heavy rain and cold weather.

pablo, yeah I'll check the pads out for sure, but I've been under the impression they're fine because when I've had to replace them in the past (on previous cars) the scraping noise was way more harsh and would be worst when I brake.

    cheers

Yeah the serpentine belt. I cant picture your engine bay at the moment but there may be another belt also. Usually drives the power steering pump. Might not be on your model but have a check anyway.

There's only one in them. :)

    ================

@OP, before you change belt, check all the rubber hoses (start from the "thickest" ones) for cracks and loose connections. Obviously only the air/vacuum ones, don't bother with the cooling system. ;)

And also the air box and MAF sensor, for air leaks.
