Came back to car after some shopping and battery was dead, odd thing was that the left headlamp was on, just the one head lamp.

I disconnected the battery and headlamp went off, waiting for a jump.

Anyone any ideas? Its a Peugeot 308.

Not sure on Peugeots but on VAG cars if you leave the indicator engaged and then take the key out of the car the rear light and front parking light of the car will remain on for that side? Was it full headlight on or parking light?

    Full left headlight was on.

Once the car started and battery got some charge all is ok.

Just curious as to how the single headlight was on.

It's a Peugeot.... The Bermuda triangle of auto electrics.

Dodgy earth or relay.will almost certainly happen again. Pug electrics can be temperamental and very complex.have someone stand front and rear while you go through all your lights Inc braking while indicating etc.this might help narrow down the ropey connection.it could also be down to a weak battery as that can cause all sorts of problems aswell.
