Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Aquascaping/Planted tank

    Hi All,

Just a question regarding the above, I am looking at changing tank to a more planted tank. I have a fair few plants in there and its starting to annoy me the layout so I am going to do a job on it and change it over, to a substrate more so for plants.

So far I am picking up a cO2 system as I am supplementing it but think the cO2 system would be better.

I am just wondering about substrates, I like the look of the Flourish Black Sand by Seachem, but I am thinking that there should be something else that goes underneat that substrate for more rooted plants and to give myself a little bit of bulk to scape some of the tank. Anyone able to share any ideas on what I can use or should be using?

    Thanks in advanced.

I used John Innes #3, mixed with a little bonemeal and capped this with JBL black sand. Beware; if any of your fish are diggers, like my pleco, they will root up the substrate and it can clog the filter and make it look a bit too much like the bottom of a river.
