Hi - I've booked my wedding in Portugal for next September and to be honest its no cheaper than Ireland but in fairness we are going for the weather and not the price.

I've heard you can get great value on weddings on Nerja which is a stunning place near Malaga.

    Hi

We got married in Portugal in July and we found the prices very reasonable. I think it really depends on where in Portugal you go. We had a 3 day wedding and I am happy to share our costs with you if you PM me.

We got married abroad and the wedding probably cost us as much as it would have here although we felt we got a lot more for the same money. So nicer food, better venue etc than we could have afforded here.

I think the biggest money saver with a wedding abroad is probably the number of guests. There were hotels in the area we choose that seemed to offer cheaper packages but the hotels just weren't what we really wanted. We did end up with about 80 guests but I know most people would have even smaller numbers abroad, and if the packages are good value that's where the biggest savings come from. If we'd been married here we probably would have had double the numbers at least.

Bear in mind that things like dresses, suits, rings etc will cost the same regardless of where you have the wedding.
