The best race of the day takes places at Sha Tin in 10 minutes. Maurice being backed off the boards, but my dart is going to land on Queens Ring, the rapidly improving Japanese horse should be bang in there if it can show the same sort of form that saw it winning the QE2 last month.

Never went a yard like drift suggested. Looks like Joseph has well and truly settled into way of things..

Djakadam won't be winning any Gold Cup.

Agreed. But I think he's always a great bet to be placed.

No. And Black Hercules won't be winning any Ryanair either. Quick enough to run over two mile me hole.

Jeez people really showing how clueless they are , djackadam has every chance in the gold cup, he's a fantastic jumper and Just won first time out over a trip far to short and is only 7

Another win on the bridle for Douvan. Some horse.

He produced a career best in the exact same circumstances last season. He's likable but I don't see how on earth he beats Cue Card.

Couple of sketchy jumps though. 1/2 across board for QM after that. Lol

Same way he did at punchestown , cue card is far from unbeatable

4 timer for Ricci. Anyone on? American Tom lost lengths jumping out wide. Will go much better the other way.

He's one to watch in the future. Hadn't raced since November last year, and was pretty impressive when you consider that.

Cue Card was clearly nowhere near his best that day. Djakadam probably wasn't either otherwise he wouldn't have lost to Carlingford Lough. Cue Card was all over him in the Gold Cup last season and if they're both on song I think he'll be all over him in this year's renewal.

Cue Card trounced him at Aintree too.

True enough but that can't have been Djakadam at his best given he couldn't even beat Don Poli.

Small bet on White Arm at Punchestown, money always talks with the colours.

i have not had winner in those colours in ages. constantly doing my dough.

same with b cooper. every time i go near him he puts one on the deck at the last or i get beat by the other gigginstown horse.

I don't get this love affair people have for Djakadam, he's a good horse but he's never going to win a Gold Cup unless there's a massive pile up or something, he's been easily beaten twice and it'll be the same again, lads backing him e/w now are crazy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,107 ✭✭✭HarshOstrich

Went to collect money earlier and was told there was 15 cent in Euro rule 4 in 1.10 cork
Only 1 horse was withdrawn seems abit much

No he wasn't easily beaten. He looked like he was going to win in 2015, but Coneygree stayed on to snatch it in the end.
There was nothing between Coneygree, Road to Riches, and Djakadam heading towards the finish line that year.

This year he never looked like beating Don Cossack or Cue Card. Had Cue Card not fallen, I think he'd have won.

Djakadam is a good horse, but he'll never beat Cue Card, as I don't think he can raise his performance to another level than the one he's at now. I think he should run him in the Ryanair Chase, and switch Douvan to 3 miles, and let UDS run in the Queen Mother, but I feel there is a very slim chance of that happening.

So we're agreed he won't be winning the Gold Cup?

It depends on who he's running against. Take Cue Card and Don Cossack out, and he has every chance of winning. But if those two are running, he won't beat them.

I can't see him ever doing it, if them 2 don't turn up id expect someone else to step up maybe Thistlecrack or Coneygree if he gets back to his best and there's bound to be one other horse that will progress beyond all recognition this season too not sure who it will be though but just can't see him winning one after getting beat in 2. It hasn't happened in my time as a punter and can't see it happening anytime soon either. That stance served me well with Silviniaco Conti a few years back and Djakadam last season. I remember someone last season being adamant Don Cossack wouldn't win a Gold Cup and being made look silly, I'll take over that role this year and say Djakadam can't.

White Arm not off a yard. Was waiting on it for €25k.
    Will win at Christmas.

I don't believe Don Cossack would have won the Gold Cup, had Cue Card fallen. I think he's little overrated, but I'd fancy him over Djakadam any day alright.
There is nothing between Coneygree, and Djakadam in terms of ability. Thistlecrack has been very impressive since he's started jumping fences. But he can only be judged when he proves himself, against the stiffer opposition he'll face ahead.
It would be epic if he was to cross paths with Douvan. What a contest that would be.

I'd be of the opposite opinion DC had loads in the tank up the hill to my eye, everytime i watch it back he looks more idle. Another animal beside him and i think he had plenty left.

Saying he was hammered isn't telling the whole story. I do recall with 2 or 3 out Cue Card went through a fence in that race, and lost all his momentum after at.

Don Cossack would have beat him in last season's KG too if he'd stayed on his feet.

He beat him at Punchestown too did he not?
