Anyone seen this yet? Was meant to be in cinemas but the distributor dropped and Netflix then "made" it. Its on netflix now.

I watched it last night and thought it was pretty good - sci-fi Black Hawk Down, with more thought put into the plausibility of some parts of the science than is usually the case for a scifi action film. Not mind blowing stuff, exactly, but it's well-executed overall. I'm surprised it didn't get a theatrical release, it doesn't have big names but it's better than a fair amount of summer action films.

From the trailer alone all I can see is a shameless remake of Final Fantasy, Spirits Within.

Watch with moderate-low expectations and it's basically alright. Some sort of Iron Man/World War Z/Aliens hybrid.

I thought this was incredibly poor - the special effects are excellent, acting is fine, cinematography is good, but the plot and suspension of disbelief required is beyond ludicrous and makes Independence Day Resurgence look like a multi-oscar winning classic for the ages.

There's about 5-10 minutes of plot development that drag the entire film down several notches... when our protagonist pulls off the most ridiculous, cringey off-the-wall convenient McGyver move that just instantly brought the movie down from a 6/10 to a 2/10 for me.

It's a shame because it could have been a really good movie if they'd worked those 5/10 minutes differently but the absurd level of stupidity and plot holes are too much to overlook for me. Not recommended at all.
