    Hi all,

I'm a gay catholic man who is also a recovering alcoholic. I'm in the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous and have done the 12 step programme. I'm now hoping to sponsor other alcoholics as i need to carry the message to stay sober! It is a spiritual programme and i'm lucky enough to have a Higher Power - God. I would like to deepen my spirituality and get closer to God and was just wondering is there any gay friendly prayer groups in Dublin?

    God Bless
    Rob

I can't help with a Catholic prayer group unfortunately, however I'd hope that you should be welcomed at any prayer group - despite the official attitude of the Catholic church to same-sex relationships, most Irish Catholics are pretty tolerant people.

Despite the generally progressive attitudes to LGBT people in Ireland there really seems to be a lack of any focus on ministering to their needs and promoting inclusion in our churches. There is Changing Attitudes Ireland who might be able to point you in the right direction although they seem to be mostly focused on the Church of Ireland. You'd also be very welcome at any Quaker meeting house in the Dublin area.

I hope you find what you're looking for and congratulations on your continuing recovery!
