is this a known issue? there's certainly no warnings on the tin; painting a dulux water based satinwood on top of oil based undercoat, and the paint is beading on me. you can't buy oil based satinwood anymore, as far as i can see, except in PBW.
it's quite irritating - means i'll probably have to buy a tin of water based undercoat and put a third coat of undercoat on before i can finish.

I think you need to get something else that will attach to the oil based U/C, whats that stuff they use when doing ceilings, sounds like Thistle bond

i was wondering if i need to leave the paint to cure for a few more days - probably about 24 hours since the U/C went on, which is well over the stated time to apply another coat, but maybe it just needs a bit more time to cure.

You can still get oil based Satinwood. I bought some last week in my local Albany Paints shop.

couldn't see any in the local woodies - no dulux or crown, except as mentioned if you want PBW.

You can still buy oil based Satinwood. What's the problem exactly? You put oil based undercoat on, and now you want to put waterbased satinwood on over the undercoat? You can do that, it will be sound.

not in my case, the water based paint is beading on me. it's as if the undercoat is repelling it slightly.

you normally can't use water based paints over oil based paint as it will bead and wont stick as you have seen. you will need a suitable primer coat first,

cheers - it'd be great if dulux could mention that on the tin.
