Virgin Media Hub: Bridge mode or Double-NAT?

I just got notification of the VM price increase and notice that they want to upgrade my modem to the new Virgin Media Hub.

I'm still on the old Cisco which I've held on to tooth and nail for years because it is bridgeable.

Is the new Media Hub bridgeable? I assume the WiFi can be switched off.

I did search but didn't find an answer to this question.

Did the same thing. Stayed on 240 package. They sent out a new Compal router that can be bridged. Switchover happened at a bad time but otherwise it was fine. Wasn't double NAT'd either so all works as before. Also switched off the wifi no issue.

You can only bridge the new HUB if you are on IPV4, the standard Virgin is using now is IPV6 DS-Lite, so you need to contact Virgin and ask them to put you onto IPV4 so that you can bridge the Hub.

The Wifi can be turned off, however you might find on some devices that the "WiFree" still broadcasts even if you turned WiFi off and did not sign up for it. There seams to be some bug going on.

If you want IPV6 than you can't bridge.

So just to be sure I understand correctly:

I currently have the cisco one in bridge mode to my asus router.

If i accept the new one will I be put on to IPv6 when they provision it by default, is that what your saying?

    Thanks

Yep, any provisioning seems to enable it. You just have to phone and be persistent.
