Am I entitled to extra pay?

I work in a part time job in location A. Occasionally I have to spend 1-2 hours attending meetings at location B - I have been expected to attend these meetings on top of the number of hours I have to work each week. I have not been paid for any of the extra time. My contract states I work 9am-2pm 3 days a week for an hourly rate. There is no mention of going over that number of hours/overtime. All of the meetings have taken place either after 2pm or on a day off.

Is this an unspoken rule or something? This is my first office type job as I only worked in a shop during college so I am not sure.

I would think you're entitled to pay for attending.
If they won't pay you I'd certainly stop attending and definitely not on a day off.

Well the unspoken rule is that you will never be out of work if you work for nothing!

The law on part-timers strives to ensure that there is no discrimination between full and part time employees.
Somehow I can't imagine full timers coming in on Saturdays to have meetings...
It is something you need to approach carefully. You have options - time in lieu or reschedule start and finish times to cover when meeting occur or get paid the extra hours. Others might suggest other alternatives

What you do would depend greatly on just how often and the purpose of the meetings.
    • If they occur a few times a year, then it is hardly worth rocking the boat.
    • A few time a month and you should bring it up to see if they can schedule them during your shifts, if not consider talking about TIL or pay.
    • A few times a week, then you should most definitely be paid.

I would approach it by asking for a reschedule first, during your work day, immediately after your work day and on a day off only as the last option. Then if they cannot accommodate you bring up the topic of pay or time in lieu.
