Just when you mentioned that Ive just remembered they would've liked a DNA sample for my breeding bull I bought 2 years ago. Something similar to yourself I'd say,
Don't think it affects the payment before Christmas as they never sent out the tag especially.
Probly bought in animals with little history.

ah ok..was just wondering that, re would it hold up payments

Surely they should be spot checking the DNA of a percentage of animals other wise every animal would be bred by 5 star parentage

Surely the genotyping takes care of that.

On that, does genotyping do anything bar tell the dam & sire they're off?
If for example a scrub bull was used cos he's 4 star, would genotype be able to identify the blood line & traits or will it be "unknown"

supposedly it can tell you any info you require from it..

Well my top ranked cow is a nine year old cow bred off a scrub bull and her mother was also bred off a scrub bull. She has a replacement index of €188.
She's been genotyped, on icbf it says "genotype bring evaluated" and "no genomic evaluation".
She's down as a five star cow, but will she count as a 5 star cow for the purpose of the scheme?

Is the born in 2013 or after still in place?

Forgot about that, she wouldn't qualify so.
Say for arguments sake, she was born after 2013 I assume she wouldn't qualify as her ancestry can't be verified.

Don't know much on the scheme, but was in a conversation where a planner mentioned that your eligibles for the scheme had to be born from 2013 & be genomic tested 4/5 star.

Yeah, you're right. Are you not in the genomics scheme?

Pulled out, numbers was going to be an issue & since pulling out, I've culled all the then 4&5 star cows

When I think about it, was the 2013 age limit not dropped so that cows of any age qualify now.

Agree if it suits, helping some older farmers that are doing it, main thing is to remind them at AI time, to ask for a bull suitable for the scheme
