    Those men went to space using computers less powerful than the average smart phone. I'd love to go - even though watching the cameras on the weather balloons makes me a bit nervous when you see the darkness above you.


    An average of 150,000 people die every day - this craic of 2016 being a "bad year" is a crock.

    If I see one more "2016 OH SADFACE" post I'll ****ing crack. It's not 2016 killing everyone.

    What celeb died last week again, they were like 88 or something and literally every 2nd post was about 2016.

    They were 88, they were old, they died. Get over it. 2016 isn't going around murdering everyone.

    To get an idea of John Glenn the man, you could do worse than watch the movie or read "The Right Stuff".

    His launch was delayed and the press was surrounding his house for pictures of the Brave Wife.
    So was Lyndon Johnston, VP of the United States of America. he was hoping to get some publicity comforting the worried wife.

    The thing was,Annie Glenn had a terrible stammer (which she bravely dealt with later on and became a public speaker and advocate for stammer sufferers.)
    There was no way she was going to face the press.

    Senior NASA people got John Glenn to phone Annie and tell her to talk to Johnston (it being important for NASA funding to keep LBJ onside).

    Glenn talked to Annie alright, and told her no one was getting into the house without her agreement. Much to the displeasure of the suits.
