I have seen a Volvo C30 for sale, 2008 with the very rare D5 engine and just 35,000 miles. It also has the geartronic auto box. The car looks beautiful, just one owner and fully documented history but I don't know much about the D5 or the geartronic on the Volvos. Has anybody on here owned one?

One thing I can't understand is why the tax on it is 570 euro when to tax a C70 or XC70 D5 costs double that.

Smaller, lighter car : lower emissions. Great engine the D5, had an S60 with it in before.

Geartronic is a 5-speed Aisin unit that should be reliable provided the fluid has been changed and that it's been done properly using fluid that meets JWS 3309 specification. It behaves nicely in D and can be worked manually. If you go for it, have the fluid changed, so you know it has been taken care of (cost about 50-100 quids depending where you have it done).

Engine is a little 5-pot gem and, when mated with the 5-speed auto, makes for a nice driving experience. Go and try it out, I'm almost certain you won't be disappointed.
