It is not Free to Air unfortunately.
It is Free to View for selected programming such as the Dundalk match tonight.

For Free to View you must have a Card Reader with Sky card.
The card does not need to have an active subscription.

It is an ongoing disgrace that this is allowed to happen for programming that is subsidised.

Ah free to view, not free to air. :)
On that non-active subscriptioncard, does it have to be with a sky box, or could it refer to the ci slot on the tv?

The terms & conditions of use of the card specify it should be used in a Sky box.
You probably won't get any HD channel if not in a Sky+HD box (but probably won't anyway for FTV).

BTW, although my TV has a CI slot, it does not have a CAM so nowhere for the card to go (did I get that terminology correct?)

I had a card in a Sky box tonight ---- no sub and not paired
and the FTV channel with the Dundalk game was received.
