Bought a new router in the hope I'd have LTE broadband to replace 3 . Alas the installation failed :(
The old netgear router needed replacing anyway so I'll use the archer c8 anyway in the vain hope it may improve matters slightly
My set up is 3 repeater modem connected via Ethernet to the router . Everything is wifi then
    Couple of questions
    1. Using this router there are now 2 networks 2.4 and 5 GHZ. Is there any advantage tonibe ovwr the other . Or should I diasable one ???the router is in the sitting room where Xbox is if that makes a difference

    2. Do I need to go opening ports and stuff for Xbox live again ? Been 10 years since I had to do it last :D also it's says I have a dyamic IP but don't think I can do anything about that

    3. Could I connect Xbox direct to back of router to help improve speeds ? It would require approx 3-4 m of cable as it's the other side of the fireplace . As is the sky box but we have never used that online ......

    Appreciate any help
    Thanks

2.4ghz - better range , especially if u have to penetrate through few walls , lower speeds
5ghz- higher speeds ,not so good for the range , ideal for your Xbox .

Does it make any difference leaving the 2 of them on ? Do they interfere different devices trying to connect to them or anything ?

Sure thing , leave two .
2.4 for the slow devices ( phones , tablets etc)
5 for the Xbox, media streamers , sky box etc

Lower latency for Xbox online gaming, I presume .
Although , Archer c8 seems to be decent router ,might be very little difference at the end, especially if it is in a same room with no signal obstructions (walls etc)

What's your set up with 3
    Modem - Ethernet - archer

E5186 router - cat 5e cable - wan port of archer c8. Then cat 6 cable to several rooms of house and Wi-Fi for all other devices. Excellent speeds and throughout with the archer

I still have the ancient huawei b260a modem
I wonder is this holding speeds back a bit too
Don't have 4G in area yet which is why I've held off on new modem thus far along by with the forlorn hope of LTE :(
