Hi folks just looking for advice

Moved in to this house about 3 years ago but been having problems with the walls inside extension and have just noticed that the downpipe on the extension never had a drain at least i cant see one i have dug around it but seems there was never one there

What would be the best advice now ? i would not mind collecting rain water in a water butt , but would i be better off gettign it to a drain there is one on the other side a bit away

In my opinion you should connect it to an appropriate surface water drain or soakaway.

If you want to put in a water butt that would be grand but I'd connect the overflow from the water butt to a drain or soakway too. You don't want to be relying on remembering to empty it before it overflows. Bear in mind that there's always a slight risk when storing water next to your house - e.g. leaks that don't get spotted.

It's not 100% guaranteed that this downpipe is the cause of your internal problems but it's something that has to be fixed anyway - see if it fixes the problem and if not continue the search.

As above re it may not be the issue.

Can you post a more wide angle picture of the damp wall,[ and for mod bonus points, some internal matching ones.:D ]

On the extension, I don't see any obvious sign of a dpc above the deck (corresponding to the black piece on the house) so maybe, repeat maybe, the rain is splashing from it.
Also the blocks stored in between may not help for same reason.

As an alternative to digging a soak hole where the downpipe is now, perhaps you could reverse the slope in the gutter and dig it easier somewhere else?

More pics of overall extension will help with this.
