Anyone got a list of the current probes in space either enroute or orbiting/on a planet and some detail on each one.

i always feel after the buzz has died down after a succesful probe like new horizons that we never get to find out what conculsions scitents have come too with the data they have recivied.

LES 1 tumbled silently in orbit for the next 46 years as the Space Age roared around it. Men went to the moon and back, probes set off to explore the solar system and beyond, and bigger, more sophisticated satellites crowded into orbit with it. LES 1 would have joined the ranks of orbital flotsam if not for a strange confluence of factors that led to its signal being reacquired in 2013. Cornish amateur radio astronomer [Phil Williams (G3YPQ)] detected a faint but repeatable signal on 237 MHz.

The good news is that there are so many in operation today. 4 or 5 Mars orbiters, 2 Venus orbiters, 2 Mars surface rovers, a Jupiter orbiter, a Saturn orbiter, three probes leaving the solar system (the 2 Voyagers and New Horizons).

We've orbited all the major planets except Uranus and Neptune, we've landed on the moon of Saturn, a billion km away. Dived into the atmosphere of giant Jupiter. Landed all over Mars and of course walked on the moon. Also landed on asteroids and comets. A pretty impressive feat.:)
