Hi as the title says , My sister sadly passed away last week suddenly , we were waiting for an autopsy for over a week so we could know when we could bury her, she lives back in glasgow , her autopsy was today so im flying over tomorrow at half 3 .. i went down to collect my social welfare today at post office and it wasn't in

It was too late to go up to office as it was closed ( i havent been sleeping well) but i managed to get thru to them on the phone, they said my payment was suspended for not signing on last week

But i was sent a letter a few months ago saying i didn't have to sign on until January as I was working with the intreo program . I wasn't giving any letters telling me to sign back nor a text message

I have to go up tomorrow 1st thing when it opens, does anyone know if the social welfare will be able to pay me ? I will have between half 9 and half 12 roughly to sort this out .. or am i better going to the community welfare officer ??

You could ask to see the cwo (community welfare officer ) to see if they could give you a discretionary payment in the meantime ,
But definitely talk to them in the morning anf bring the letter that said you didn't need to sign on again till January

I'd love to know as well.
It is not fair calling "wolf, wolf", asking for help and then falling silent altogether.

sorry just back from Glasgow yesterday..
the next day after my OP I went to my Community welfare officer who told me to go to the social welfare as they had me down as being signed off & my payment suspended

I ran up to the social welfare, signed back on and had to tell them I would be away for at least a week so had to fill in a form for that .. my signing had been suspended as i was injured a few months ago and wasnt available for work so was claiming illness benefits for a few weeks but I had been on Jobseekers since and still cant understand why I was signed off.

Went back down to the Community welfare officer and she was great & gave me a cheque to cover my payment .

I then went straight to the airport, luckily my flights were only €25 return ..

I got back yesterday with literally minutes to spare to sign back on and will now receive this weeks social welfare payment roughly on Monday
