Some of the dialog is a bit forced, but Emma Watson with Tom Hanks (channeling Steve Jobs) in a digital age conspiracy thriller? Count me in. :)

Cool. I was just reading about this a few minutes on The Register before I came here to search

    :)

I bet when I eventually go to the cinema and see it I will see loads of glowing phones in the darkness before the movie starts.

New trailer... Still looks very watchable. :)

Does anyone know when this movie will finally come out here?

It doesn't list any release date for Ireland and UK on IMDB. Even though it's been out in the US and most of Europe for weeks now.

I'd really like to see it, I read the book also and it was very chilling. I heard the ending was changed from the book but I'd still like to see it.

By the way I can really recommend reading the book.

It's been a total critical and box office bomb and hasn't secured a release date in Europe yet.

It's been shown in the Netherlands since the beginning of May. Same for Spain, Sweden and more recently Poland and France, according to IMDB (I only know for sure about the Netherlands because I read reviews in the media there and it's got plenty of showings there even now).

I'm just surprised it's not out here as no translation/subtitling would be required, as it is in all these other places.

Might just be the UK & Ireland then.

From a quick look at Box Office mojo it has only opened in 17 Countries outside of North America with no release dates for anywhere else in the world.

Trying to watch The Circle now.
Seemed "Meh" enough, happy to let it continue, then at the 30 minute mark takes a RIDICULOUS nose dive (the conversation with the two "Social" team members). One of the worst scenes I've come across in a movie in some time. Taking the perception of Google/Apple/FB workplace environments to a comically unrealistic level.

Well, I didn't see any good reviews of it and it's got 15% (critics) and 24% (audience) on RT at the moment so.. it's a long long way down my to-watch list.

    Truly, stupendously, astoundingly dumb.

The point of that scene is that it's over the top and comically unrealistic.

This was a stupid movie with a stupid premise. It was like a Hollywood version of an episode of Black Mirror, with no bite or intelligent satire.

Watched this last night. Was pretty dull. Concept could have been worked better.

Although it was nice to see 2 people I know have small parts in it.

Thought it was pretty bad but I did watch to the end...

Made it halfway through and gave up, Felt like a rubbish Black Mirror.

The idea had potential. I really liked the concept of an all governing app. Nothing wrong with the idea But the film didn't go there. It suggested the idea but then fizzled out. It got so stupid I was left cringing at the end.

    Defies conventional criticism.

Disappointing adaptation of an excellent book. The last 20 minutes seemed really rushed, and Watson was pretty poor I thought.

I wouldn't blame watson. When Hanks held his hands up without absolutely no proof that 'the circle' was corrupt, it got stupid at that stage. As for Watson, going for a paddle, and then touching with main company honchos, took a huge leap of faith

It's trending on Netflix this Christmas- watched it for the first time.

I thought it had overtones of Scientology in it in the first half - well at least that's what came to my mind - I.e the whole total transparency piece is what they use to sucker people in - only my opinion of course.

When it came to the voting thing, I couldn't help think of our own voting machines :D no, paper voting is the only way. But I also though of the resistance in an AH thread a while back to the Irish social services card-

I don't think it's a bad film - not the best but does get you thinking what technology can do if you let it.
