Working Continental Shift

I have an interview for a job that requires working a mixture of days, nights, swing shifts and being on call.

I have always worked standard days i.e. 8am to 5pm with the odd late evening or weekend.

Has anyone any experience working continental shifts and how do you find it?

I'm a bit apprehensive that it will mess up my quality of life due to the constant change in sleep patterns, however I understand that there will be a good amount of time off due to multiple 12 hour night shifts each month.
