British actor Peter Vaughan, best known for roles in Game of Thrones and Porridge, has died at the age of 93.
He played Maester Aemon in the HBO series and Grouty in the TV sitcom.
His many other roles included parts in TV shows Citizen Smith, Chancer and Our Friends in the North.
His agent Sally Long-Innes said: "This is to confirm that very sadly Peter Vaughan passed away at approximately 10.30 this morning. He died peacefully with his family around him."
Vaughan began acting in the 1950s and became a recognisable face by playing numerous mainly supporting roles on stage, television, radio and film.
He specialised in characters with a tough edge - such as police officers, secret agents and authoritarian elders.

And now his watch is ended.

He'll always be Grouty to me though.

    King Billy!!!

This is one actor I've always loved! Was reading about " Peter Vaughn's died ", on another forum. Thought; I must look this guy up ~ who ever he was .....

Never dreamed it was King Billy Fox! ( " No you won't son ~ lead pipe slips down out of sleeve ~ because I'll smash your f**king head in! " :D)

Never really caught his real name. Was always just 'that big, menacing bastard who played Billy Fox', to me.

Amuse yeself, Hugh; Go off and find a comparable year, in the last thirty, for well known and loved people popping their socks.

I mean; All memes aside: This one Has been a bitch!

I grew up with then dropping off now and again. Lately? It's gotten more like a down pour.

Maybe TV / The Internet has simply provided us with so many more faces to know? Dunno. But; I Do have the complete " Fox " DVD set on my shelf. I'm not just jumping on any bandwagons here ;)

See, this is what happens when Terry Pratchett is gone and nobody is around to control Death and his antics.
