Mods please move if inappropriate :)

Just looking to see if any of you have early onset arthritis? I was diagnosed yesterday with spinal and hip osteoarthritis, I'm 20. It would be nice to find people of a similar age with this, I feel like I'm 80 :D

Sorry to hear, but as far as I know boards tends to frown on medical advice (just in case you were looking for some).

Might find some groups on facebook that will help too!

I'd say Facebook groups would be a good shout.
There are forums in the "long term illness" section on boards for diabetes, MS and depression etc but I am sure I seen something for Arthritis.
I am 20 also and am waiting for results on if I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and also possibly hip dysplasia, PM me if you like x.

Well your not the only one ,I'm closer to 40 but diagnosed in my late teens with osteoarthritis and psoriatic arthritis ,it's seems to be getting more common in younger people though

Have AK (Ankylosing Spondylitis) since I was 25. Diet change helped me more than medication (when I stick to it :P).

You'd be amazed at how young people have it. I've had rheumatoid arthritis since I was ten. And there are a lot of others in the same age group with it

I am sorry to hear this. I have one question: are you a Vegan or a Vegetarian?

I am only asking because the only people I know who got early (very early) arthritis were either one or the other.

I have a little bit of arthritis in my right knee, I had problem with my knee for years and this is just the remaining problem now.
It's not that bad and handy for knowing when the weather is changing.

Are you asking me or the OP?

Diagnosed with it myself yesterday, something called rumathoid artheritis. Apparently it could be linked to coeliac disease, which my dr thinks is causing my thyroid issues too. It seems to be tolerable for the minute though, and mostly on my right side of my body, feet especially but it's in one of my fingers too

How odd, both diagnosed yesterday! I have an underactive thyroid actually, I'm osteoarthritis though, this is a very strange coincidence :pac:

There are many many causes for many types of arthritis - I don't have mine confirmed yet but I do have severe Raynuard Syndrome which is linked strongly to Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Arthritis Ireland are a great source of info. They have a Facebook page and there are specific pages for younger people with arthritis diagnosis. They have regular meet ups/coffee mornings. PM me if you want the names of the groups.

I'm not anyway. I could eat meat till the cows come home, then eat the cows on a barbecue.

Rheumatoid arthritis is yet another autoimmune disease which in most cases is a manifestation of gluten intolerance. Hundreds of success stories of complete elimination of rheumatoid arthritis through removal of gluten from the diet
