OK this is probably an odd request but I'm not sure what to look at, here's the wish list - suggestions please - budget up to circa €10k for right car.

    - Nice place to be cabin, full leather with Hi Spec Climate/Cruise/Electrics etc
    - Roomy - spoiled now with an 01 Civic 1.4 MPV in a hatchback
    - Something that looks good in a classy not flashy way
    - Mileage we do will be lowish - 6-10k miles p.a. so MPG economy not crucial
    - Easy light drive - comfort rather then performance - primary driver Female
    - Very Reliable - am not good/keen on cars DIY so service and forget mode
    - Ideally to keep it for at least 5 yrs, have had previous cars for 10!
    - Min age '06 but probably newer if that computes
    - something insurance won't be crazy on but full NCB etc
    - prefer lower mileage, keep longer etc ...
    - Not keen to buy privately just don't know near enough ...

Just now have two options that are quite different but not sure either is right:

2011 1.6 D2 SE LUX 35k miles , nice cabin and ultra low mileage, newish, €200 tax, will be reliable I think but it's quite small and sparse inside even with full leather. Will our low mileage work with a diesel? Had a '98 S40 previous, newer one seems tinny by comparison. I'm thinking this is sensible option?

2007 Civic CR-V 2.0 55k miles, hi spec with everything, plush leather, spacious,
tax €650?, thirsty it appears, seems owners love them and go on for ever. Not sure if this is too big outside, a bit more expensive tax/MPG but more comfort. Is it sellonable if too exp to run?

    Civic is 1/3rd cheaper!

Previously had a Previa when kids teenagers so size not a real issue, I'm sure there are lots of options, would consider something that could be trade up.

Will waiting until January make a difference or will Dec deals just reflect the timing anyway

    TIA for any suggestions

How did you arrive at a 2011 diesel Volvo saloon and a 2007 petrol Honda SUV? There is huge middle ground between those two cars.

if you have had it this long, like it and it is costing you virtually nothing, why bother changing?

    Fair questions both:

Why now is just for something else, move to Civic was ok but forced at the time as previous S40 failed NCT (unfixable) and cash was super tight at the time, able to spend some more on something a bit nicer now. It is always a concern to change something that's not broken but age is against it!

What both have in common are nice level of finish, preference towards Civic as it is V nice, alot of car for the $$ and avoids diesel complications.
