curtain or blind to keep heat in open plan

    Hi all

    Any suggestions to keep heat in with an open plan living room/kitchen area
    ?
    There is a low wall which comes up about a meter dividing both, there is great light which is of great benefit to a small area with poor lighting as it is an old barn convert, however the ceiling is high and impossible to heat in winter, despite good insulation. sand a good stove.

    Was thinking of putting a curtain which could be closed at night to keep in the heat and opened during the day. Am wondering would a curtain rail be inclined to conserve the heat more than a pole as the pole would need clearance and not to right up to the ceiling? The width of the area is only about 12 feet, how would blinds work as one could roll them down and pull them up by day?

    Any suggestions welcome

    12 feet wide is a big ask for blinds.
    What height is the drop ?
    Any chance of some pictures?
    What about permanent glazing for part of it?

    Thanks I don't have pictures, I agree it is a bit too wide for blinds and the curtains would look better as they could be pulled back during the day.

    I was thinking a curtain rail would be better, then a pole, it will only be used in winter time, would it be a good idea to cut one rail 6ft and the other 6ft 6inches and have a slight over lap to avoid an opening/gap at the centre?
