Preparation for Clerical Officer Aptitude tests?

Is there any way to do preparation work?

I recently failed a similar test for administrative officer but would love to do better the next time clerical officer positions in the civil service come up.

Also mods feel free to move this thread if appropriate.

Having done both, there is no real prep you can do.
THe thing is to keep going with the questions. You have about 19 seconds per question.

    Thank you for the replies.

Does anyone know if I can practice aptitude tests online or can I only practice aptitude tests during the job application process?

I really want to prepare so that I can ace any positions the civil service will be hiring for soon.

There was a CO competition a few months ago so I wouldn't expect it to come up again during 2017 tbh. You may be interested in the current EO competition however.

I disagree that prepping isn't possible. I took a number of practise tests for both CO and AO aptitude tests, my scores improved considerably, and I progressed to the next stage in both competitions.

There are practice tests on the public jobs website that you will benefit from - have a thorough browse through the 'advice centre' part of the website as some of them are hidden in plain sight in misleadingly named pages.

You may also find a good selection of sample aptitude tests in your local library or bargain book shop.

I know that Temporary Clerical Officer campaigns were posted every year since 2014 at least, so maybe they will come up again next year, or do they not require aptitude tests?

Thanks, just found the practice tests on publicjobs.ie so I will be sure to practice them as much as I can.

I don't believe the previous TCO campaigns included an aptitude test. I think its generally a questionnaire followed by a brief interview.

    Hi,

Ive been invited for "testing session" for a clerical officer role with Limerick City/County Council.

In the email it says there is:

    Verbal Comprehension
    Numerical Reasoning
    Clerical Checking

Can anyone explain how these work?
