2003 Ford Fiesta remote key fob not working, changed battery several times, not working.

Just wondering if I can buy key fob off ebay (I have seen a listing for €35 for same key as mine) then use the key blade from my old key which is easily removed, put it onto that key then program the key fob by twisting the key back and forth 4 times in ignition to program it, can this be done?

    Cheers

Yes, this should be easily doable. I have done it on a focus.

The Transponder chip is in the key blade section, so you only need to re-use the remote part from the eBay key, which is very easy to programme.

Is this the correct way to program key as in first post?

    Google it to be sure.

To be honest I think it may even outline the steps in the owners manual.

I googled this and for my key anyway the transponder chip is in the remote fob part and not in the key blade, so in relation to my first post, it can't be done?

Used them before, expensive and had nothing but issues with the new key ended up getting one of the manufacturer. Wouldnt use them again.

You're right yeah, sorry it was a few years ago when I did it.

The Transponder should be in the Battery part. ie. the part of the case which contains the battery and transponder.

This should eaily split away from the button part of the remote...

So you should be able to combine your key blade and the Battery part of your old key + just the "button" part of the case from the eBay Key

Avoid them. Got quoted the same price twice over the phone. Twice, because I was doing my research, and wanted to be sure about the details before putting €250 forward. The ladies on the phones actively denied looking into vehicle specifics. Drove 25km on a Saturday to get this done, and price was actually 50% HIGHER! When I asked why they didn't tell me price wasn't final over the phone, the arrogant employee stood out of his chair with the best line ever: "Did I give you that quote? DID I GIVE YOU THAT QUOTE??"

Had a problem a couple of times with key fob not working the centre locking even though it showed power with the red light.Went to a garage and the guy pointed it from a distance to some device and said the fob was ok.We went out to the car and he got in and closed the door,he put the key into the ignition and turned the key to the first position and pressed to lock on the keyfob then pressed again to unlock it.When he got out he said the keyfob just needed to be reprogrammed that a bit of a knock or dropping keyfob can knock out the signal between key fob and car, fair play to him as he didn't charge me anything.Imagine being screwed leaving it into some other garage and they came back and said some part of the centrol locking system needs to be replaced ....

Just an update on this, they ebay method as detailed above by another poster did not work, Not sure why?

Another question is how do they charge €150 for just a fob? Can they not repair the fob?

Went to Autokey on the naas road and got my fob refurbished for 85 euro . worked for 4 weeks . Tested again and told it was not the fob. Car towed and a diagnostic to discover it WAS the fob . 285 euro and time wasted, treated with condension by Autokey . Avoid like the plague .
