I've been tasked with supplying the crackers this year. Has anyone got a recommendation for decent crackers with reasonable contents? I don't really mind how much they cost just don't want to end up paying €20 for crackers that have hardly any bang and only contain a plastic spider.

Sounds like you should make your own. Go up North and get the left over fireworks. Plenty of bang in them.
