    Hi all,

I am going to do the Dublin Marathon. Can anyone give advice on the best program. I am planning on building up my distance by starting with couch to 5km program. I am finding the couch to 5km a bit easy but I want to build it up slowly.

Is this the right way to go about it or should I be focusing on a different program?

    Thanks 😊

I won't offer much advice as others are more qualified on that front. Finish the couch to 5k, then perhaps think about a race or two to see how you get on in that environment. Probably look to build up your weekly mileage post-C25K.

Don't think about marathon times or goals yet, well, don't get fixated. Task 1 is to do the training, task 2 is to get to the start line. There will be time to think about goals in the back half of October. Keep an eye on the main forum as the mentored novices thread will pop up some time next May/June. In there you will be asked about your running experience to date and advised on a plan to follow. Keep in mind you'll need to run 4-5 days a week. It's all about gradual progress.

In the meantime, look into strengthening and conditioning for runners.

Just concentrate on Building slowly over next few months, build up to 3-4
runs a week if you get to consistent 20-25 miles over a weeks running before next June,
Join Mentored Novice Thread, they will have couple of plans and great advice, wouldn't really worry to much until then, maybe get few park runs in if you can and give a few 5k's a good blast every few weeks and should
be ok. If you are intent on Marathon being Goal keep it simple and easy
and do nothing to mad and should be all good. Thread usually starts about
end of May, this years is in A/R main thread if you read into will give you
a good head start. Best of luck.
