    Hi all,

    Some advice required if possible.

2.0l Petrol Turbo Insignia, 2008 (automatic)

The last few days when driving the car, there has been a whirring/whistling sound when accelerating which has been getting worse and worse. Imagine the sound the wind makes in a storm and thats what I'm getting.

It is happening now when starting the engine and after this, only on acceleration, no matter how gentle. The car is due a new camshaft which it is getting on Tuesday.

Combined with this, there is the odd lack of power when putting the foot down. Only happens every now and again but i put this down to the camshaft potentially affecting the vvti timings. Completely uneducated guess though.

Any idea where the issue might be?

    Thanks,

    P.

Those are all the symptoms of a boost leak, somewhere between your turbo and the inlet manifold - most likely a loose or split boost pipe, not a big deal to fix.

Thanks. Car sounds like a plane taking off when accelerating.

If your camshaft is NOT getting oiled properly you will have an awful screeching/squealing noise!

If your car has a turbo and is making a high pitched noise, usually a problem with a hose is a good bet - but I'mm worried about why your car needs a camshaft in the first place and wondering if this is related in this case...

Worrying the same myself. Engine light came on, dropped to mechanic and diagnostics showed a fault in the camshaft. Hopefully it is just a pipe but tomorrow will tell all hopefully.
