Not sure if this belongs here, if not please let me know/report/remove.

Is there a way to find out if a road is in the pipeline to be fixed/widened? I'm asking about River Rd (Finglas/Ashtown) https://goo.gl/maps/ZKRFrrLwtHv

Ive always thought there was a lot of potential for that road, especially if they were to continue to expand the Tolka valley park all the way to the M50, or even further

I doubt it, there's cycling/pedestrian paths through the park and along the canal from Ashtown to pretty much the junction with Rathoath rd. There might be some resurfacing done, but not much else. I doubt the local authority wants to widen it to allow traffic flow quicker anyway.

Maybe not widen with pedestrian walkways on the sides as such, but some points are freakishly narrow. If there's a truck on the opposite direction, you're doomed.

Today, btw, a cyclist was strolling down the other side of River Rd from Rathborne towards Dunsink Ln. Freaking disaster with 20 cars behind him!

But there's a 3 tonne weight limit on the road to ban trucks.

The local area development plan includes an unfleshed out description of the need to upgrade river road. Two options are described, one being to make it 1 way along part of the route. It's very vague but is on the councils radar. Give it ten years.

I know, but living in the area for almost a year, I've encountered a good few trucks between Rathborne and Ratoath Rd.

    Here it is:
MAO1 To implement an improvement scheme for River Road by 2017 in accordance with objective SI038 of the Dublin City Development Plan 2011-17 that provides for (i) safe movement of traffic, (ii) pedestrian routes along and across the road, and (iii) cycle connections. The eventual design will incorporate a two-way section on the western (Ashtown) side, and a one-way eastbound section on the remainder, connecting with Ratoath Road. This design shall be the subject of detailed study. Interim road safety measures will also be carried out.
