Hoping someone might be able to help me. My TVs has saorview built in but I can't get the RTE channels since I've moved down from Northern Ireland. Today I bought an indoor aerial but still can't get it. Also have Chromecast but RTE not compatible with this. Anyone any ideas how to get RTE on my TV?
    Thanks in advance. 😉

Where are you located, use the Saorview Coverage checker to find the recommended transmitter for your location - https://www.saorview.ie/en/get/coverage

An indoor aerial may not be good enough to receive the Saorview signal and you may require and external UHF aerial.

I have related query. I have Saorview and a new attic antenna and get almost - almost - all the channels.

I have everything except RTE1 and UTV.

For whatever reason I have Oireachtas TV where I expect RTE1 to be on the station list after an auto tune.

How can I only receive some and not others?

Antenna is pointed as per Saorview Google maps instruction, and it's a tall house - I can see 15 miles clear in direction of Maghera .

    Confused I am!

I had a similar problem recently until I discovered all the other UHF aerials in my area were at a different angle to mine, approx 60 degrees.
    Rotated mine and problem solved.
worth having a look at your neighbours roof.

You're missing a whole multiplex. Does the aerial have a coloured bung in the end? (Denotes its design frequency range.)

Instead of doing an autotune, do an individual scan on Channel 55, Saorview Multiplex (Mux.) 2. This is where RTE1, UTV and a couple of other stations are.

You are getting RTE 2, Oireachtas TV etc on Channel 48 Mux 1.

Although both are listed with the same power, it seems to be a very common problem that only one can be received on a particular aerial. Not just Maghera but other transmitter sites as well. If you cannot get anything on Mux 2 then you will probably have to put your aerial outside.

Yes, a white coloured bung. I was told this was the right one - is it ?

Thanks for that - will try it.

Out of curiousity, I did ring Saorview and the guy there couldn't help. You'd have thought he'd have explained what you just did.

Finally, if I have to put one outdoors (which I don't understand, if Mux 1 works indoors, surely Mux 2 would ??), can you recommend a quality outdoor one. An awful lot of antennae seem to be incredibly flimsy.

It is, for the Maghera transmitter, Group T (white tip) - http://www.2rn.ie/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/2RN-DTT-Television-Transmission-Network-Sep-2014.pdf

Indoors or outdoors the aerial needs to be correctly aligned to the transmitter to receive the optimum signal for both multiplexes, as we've seen here in posts before an aerial slightly off can get a better signal for one mux over the other and if that aerial is in the attic behind slates or tiles it can further reduce the signal for one multiplex, stuff in the attic (pipework/insulation/etc.) can also cause problems for reception. Try adjusting/moving the aerial in the attic to see if you can improve reception before moving it outside.
