Question about crowns

I need to get my teeth whitened before getting 3 crowns , the whitening takes 2 weeks and the crowns take another 2 weeks ? but I was hoping to have it done before xmas

Will I get temporary crowns while waiting for the real ones ? I dont want to go through Christmas with a half a front tooth

Yes you'll get temporary ones.

I have two at the moment and they will be in for three weeks

So if I go get the whitening kit tomorrow and go back in 2 weeks il get the temporary ones straight away? Cheers

I got my temporary one when the dentist did the casts to have the permanent ones

Why do you need whitening to get crowns?

I dunno , they said I'd be better off whitening so they could match the colour properly .

Assuming the 3 new crowns all fit correctly, that the bite is correct, & then also that you're happy with the shape/size/shade, then you should be able to have them cemented before the end of the month as scheduled. However, if any of the crowns need to be returned to the laboratory for any adjustment/remake, then your time is extended.
Factor in the Christmas season re limited surgery opening hours& laboratory working days...chat to your dentist...maybe consider waiting until January to press ahead with the crowns, if you're not comfortable with the **possibility** of having temporary crowns over Xmas/New Years .

Thanks for the reply , I'm going down Tuesday anyway to get my mouth measured for the whitening so hopefully it'll get sorted in time

Going in tomorrow to get the prep work done. Can anyone tell me what's involved in this ?

She said it'll take about 2 hours , I'm just worried that they'll cut my teeth down and leave them lik that while I'm waiting to get the crowns ?

They will put on temporary crowns

When i got mine there was a fair bit of drilling about 40 mins out of an hour long appointment

They looked fine to me not as good as the real ones

Just be aware that with the temporary ones you might get bits of cement coming off
