Looking to repair a banister. We had to take it off as we got new couches and had break the banister in the process of getting them into the apartment.

Here are some photos of the pieces.

Glued the bottom piece back in.

I got wood glue and another type of glue that glues 2 different materials together such as wood and plaster but they are not strong enough for support. The best solution I got was to make a dowel thick enough and long enough. But I do not have the tools plus I would not have the confidence to drill straight even with the tools.

Looking for the cheapest solution around this. Or is getting professional help my only option?

    Thanks.

a carpenter or theres a few around that specialise in handrail and banister replacement
    google it

in fairness though whats going to happen when the couch has to come back out
if its an all white stairs it could be all pilot holed , counter sunk , glued and screwed then filled with poly filler and repainted
about 3-400€ should cover it .... expensive couch!
