Buy Desktop, Pay in Instalments?

    Hi all,

I've been wanting to upgrade from my laptop to either a gaming laptop or a decent desktop for a while (most likely desktop as it has more options to upgrade in the future) but I'm crap at saving. If I was to pay in instalments, though, I'd have no bother putting that money aside.

Do ye have any suggestions for a reputable place that does this where the kit won't be vastly over priced for what it is?

I'd be happy to pay in the region of €100 per month over a year or so.

I think Amazon do it, not sure how it would work if you were building yourself though.

You could always get a credit union loan or something?

Had a quick look there and if your order is £400 or more it looks like you can pay monthly. So you could build a pc from scratch by ordering all the parts from amazon in one go then pay it off.

Really? Can you link to this, I've got a wish list of parts I've been collecting and trying to pull money together so this approach could suit me also :)

    Sorry for hijacking OP!

I'd get a bank/credit union loan tbh, every installment plan on the planet has higher APR%.

    Or follow my dad's guidelines:
"Don't buy something until you can afford it twice over."

Do you need a UK address, mobile and bank account to use pay monthly?

I always thought that was only open for UK residence.

Could very well be but it keeps trying to get me to do it.

Yeah I get offered the aqua credit card on Amazon all the time... I think you need a UK bank account and a U.K. adress. You may also need some sort of credit history in the U.K...

I'd say a credit union or bank loan is the handiest option without having the above.

Bank loan would be best bet and lower apr then any of those places would offer. They charge pretty much credit card apr!
AIB is doing 8% personal loan right now. Good thing about this one, you can pay off early or pay extra per month and apr will be recalculated on what's left, not pay off Intrest first and then pay the loan.

Does pcspecialist does the builds and have monthly payment scheme? Or i was dreaming?

Cheers all. Might go with the credit union load so. Cheaper and handier, I reckon. Thanks!
