One bottle for Christmas?

Ok due to economic conditions at home this busy Santa Xmas I am allowing myself one decent bottle of whiskey for the holidays. Budget would be up to €120 maximum, personally I tend towards pot stills such as Redbreast, Yellow Spot , Powers John Lane, all of which are on my shelf but also enjoy a malt.

I've lost track of what's going on out there whiskey wise so if there's anything I should be trying your suggestions would be welcome!

Must be Irish and preferably non peated.

    What are ye having yourselves?

Push the boat out a bit more (you're worth it and all that!) and get yourself a bottle of Midleton Very Rare @ €145 in O'Briens (https://www.obrienswine.ie/spirits/spirits/irish-whiskey-sale/midleton-rare-70cl.html)
    Alternatively, a 15yo Redbreast @ €105 (https://www.obrienswine.ie/spirits/spirits/irish-whiskey/redbreast-15-year-old.html)

Sorry to hijack, but along similar lines: if you were to get just one bottle for the Christmas period, but budget limited to 50,what would it be?

I'm thinking along the lines of either black barrel, or three shallows.

    Any other runners?

Just spend an extra tenner and get the best bottle in the range. Redbreast 12

Green Spot in O'Brien's for €55. Delicious nectar. ;)

Three Swallows all the way. At €36 in Tesco at the moment, you could justify stretching your budget slightly and picking up two bottles! :D

Even cheaper again if you've any Tesco or other supermarket spend & save vouchers lying about!

Having seen in the other whiskey thread that redbreast is 57 in tesco, will prob use a dunnes voucher to get a tenner off that.

Enjoyed a bottle of it before very much, so know what I'm in for!

Writer's Tears is another option worth considering. €45 in Dunnes, or effectively €36 if you've access to one of their Shop & Save vouchers.

You could use the Dunnes voucher to get a bottle of Writer's Tears in Dunnes and then use the voucher that transaction generates to get the Redbreast in Tesco!

Of course, that would involve stretching your budget to €83 though! :D

some great reading here for a newbie folks. In relation to the price range of Green Spot to Redbreast 12 year how would you rate a Teeling Single Malt ? Not much mention of Teeling here, just wondering.

Ok. I've about €200 to spend. I'm going to head to the Midleton gift shop this evening and buy myself some Christmas presents - it was a good year after a really bad one so I want to treat myself.

What do you think I should get?

I'm thinking of 15YO Redbreast (or should I just get the 12 (or 12 Lusteau)?) and Green Spot (but don't know whether I should get the regular or the Léoville Barton).
Or should I go for the Jameson specials (Blender's Dog, Distiller's Safe & Cooper's Croze) - no idea what they're like though?
Or go whole hog and get the 21YO Redbreast or Midleton VR?

At home, I have two bottles of Yellow Spot, Powers Three Swallow, Powers John's Lane, a few Crested, Paddy 100, Black Barrel,

I'm concious that they may be slightly cheaper in O'Briens or wherever but let's assume cost is the same - I'm being over-optimistic and holding out for a discount.

If you want to treat yourself, spend the whole 200e on RedBreast 21yo

Went with Redbreast 15 and Lustau in the end.
It's going to be a good Christmas!
